Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce a new initiative aimed at recruiting, developing and training the next generation of lifeguards.
As part of this effort, the City has launched a Junior Lifeguard Program for youth ages 11 to 14 and has officially lowered the minimum hiring age for lifeguards from 16 to 15 years old.
The program offers a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience and foundational training in lifeguarding. Instruction is provided by certified American Red Cross lifeguards and includes practical, hands-on exposure to lifeguard duties and lifesaving techniques.
