General Skatepark Information
Located in Pier Park, 623 S. Pine, the Pier Park skatepark was originally built in October of 2001 at a cost of $200,000. A committee was formed, mostly of teens to help with design and site selection. The skatepark covered more than 14,200 square feet.
In the fall of 2025, the City of Grand Island, in partnership with the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce, will hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the newly-renovated skatepark. This was the first major renovation to the skatepark since its creation nearly 25 years prior, and is expected to better serve current and future generations of skaters.
Demolition of the old steel and wood structures began on April 14, 2025. Artisan Concrete Services oversaw the removal of the longstanding features and led construction of the new facility. The upgraded skatepark now features modern, durable concrete elements commonly found at leading skateparks across the country. The total investment in the project came to $892,783.50.
